08/31/2009: EUCLID SG signs agreement with University of the Comoros

On Monday 08/31, EUCLID Secretary General Syed Zahid Ali held various meetings with senior officials of the government of the Comoros on the occasion of his official visit to Moroni.

In addition to his meeting with the Minister of Education H.E. Dr. Kamaliddne Afraitane, Mr. Ali discussed various cooperation projects at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and visited the campus of the University of the Comoros. On this occasion, a cooperative agreement was signed between EUCLID and the University of the Comoros allowing the University to join the Euclid Consortium and to cooperate with EUCLID and other universities in capacity-building initiatives.

02/20/2009: Secretary General announces appointment of Ambassador Banny De Brum as EUCLID High Steward and Chairman of the Board of Advisors


Secretary General Syed Zahid Ali officially announced the appointment of Ambassador Banny de Brum as High Steward and Chairman of the Board of Advisors.

Banny de Brum served as Ambassador of the Marshall Islands to the United States in Washington DC between 1996 and 2008. He is well and favorably known by US agencies for his collaborative work, notably as chairman of the Washington Pacific Committee.

He and his wife Honor reside near the federal capital.

This appointment concerns EUCLID only and Ambassador Touaboy remains High Steward of the Euclid Consortium.

02/20/2009: EUCLID releases updated Global Economics Outlook Webcast / Press Briefing

EUCLID has released its Global Economic Outlook (GEO) update (02/2009) Webcast and Press Briefing. This GEO will be updated in April/May 2009.

01/19/2009: First course in series of new open courseware program in international relations published

EUCLID Principal Vince Sinning confirmed today the formalization of an innovative open courseware program in international relations. The first lecture by journalist and IR student Glenville Ashby is entitled 'Hegemony, the Caribbean and the United States' and is now available in flash and mp3.


01/12/2009: Secretary General welcomes Republic of Benin as new Participating State

EUCLID Secretary General Syed Zahid Ali announced today that the Republic of Benin is the sixth approved Participating Party in EUCLID (Euclid University) and has initiated activated of operational structures and programs.


12/19/2008: Euclid University Consortium name change effective 01/01/2009

EUCLID Secretary General Syed Zahid Ali confirmed today that in order to avoid possible confusion between EUCLID (Euclid University) and the Euclid University Consortium (in which EUCLID is a member), the consortium would be renamed Euclid Consortium (in short
E2C) effective January 1, 2009.


12/02/2008: Secretary General welcomes Republic of Vanuatu as new Participating State

EUCLID Secretary General Syed Zahid Ali announced today that the Republic of Vanuatu is the fifth approved Participating Party in EUCLID (Euclid University) and acknowledges receipt of the Memorandum of Understanding approved by Vanuatu's Minister of Foreign Affairs.


11/07/2008: EUCLID/IOSD Secretary General attends annual Ministerial level ICCI conference

EUCLID Secretary General Syed Zahid Ali (seen on left-most seat in the above photograph) attended the annual conference of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry held in Damascus, Syria, during the first week of November. As session leader, Mr. Ali presented an update on the activites of the organization since his announcement of EUCLID Phase 2 at the ICCI Conference of Qatar (January 2008) which resulted in the participation of EUCLID's four founding Parties. EUCLID's activities in a number of areas, including inter religious diplomacy, where also discussed in the Secretary General's meetings with various government ministers in the sidelines of the conference.

The Islamic Chamber is an affiliated organ of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and represents the private sector of 57 member countries. It aims at strengthening closer collaboration in the field of trade, commerce, information technology, insurance/reinsurance, shipping, banking, promotion of investment opportunities and joint ventures in the member countries.


10/02/2008: EUCLID releases Global Economics Outlook Webcast and Press Briefing [ Full Story ]

In response to a directive issued by Secretary General Syed Zahid Ali and in order to provide an advisory report to the Participating States and interested parties, EUCLID has released its first Global Economic Outlook (GEO) Webcast and Press Briefing.

This GEO will be updated in November 2008.

News / In Focus: September 1, 2008 - CAFRAD and EUCLID approve partnership MOU

EUCLID Secretary General Syed Zahid Ali announced today the signature of a cooperation program with CAFRAD, an intergovernmental organization established in 1964 by African and Indian Ocean governments, with the support of UNESCO. CAFRAD's Member States are Algeria, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroun, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Sao Tome & Principe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Togo and Tunisia. CAFRAD is a partner IGO of the United Nations Public Administration Network (UNPAN).

This inter-IGO MOU charts a course for official cooperation in the field of technology, mutual accreditation and e-learning initiatives.

Official information on H.E. Faustin Touadera (08/24/2008)

The EUCLID Secretary-General presents his compliments and congratulations to H.E. Faustin A. Touadera, Prime Minister of the Central African Republic, and is pleased to inform Euclid's students and partners that the co-founding rector of the Euclid Consortium was appointed to the post of Prime Minister in February 2008.

Fourth Participating State approves EUCLID educational framework (07/10/2008)

EUCLID Secretary General Syed Zahid Ali announced today the completion of EUCLID Phase 2 which was marked by the approval of the fourth standard multilateral Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to the EUCLID Framework and Statutes.

The multilateral MOU confirms the international non-legal legal personality, university charter and accreditation of EUCLID (Euclid University) as an intergovernmental university.


Sierra Leone Minister of Foreign Affairs approves EUCLID educational framework (04/16/2008)

oN 16 April 2008, Sierra Leone Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade H.E. Zainab Hawa BANGURA met with EUCLID Principal Vince Sinning and approved the standard multilateral Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to Sierra Leone's participation in EUCLID.


St. Vincent & Grenadines finalizes participation in EUCLID educational framework (03/2008)

Executive President Syed Zahid Ali announced today that St. Vincent & Grenadines Minister of Education Girlyn MIGUEL has approved the standard multilateral Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to Saint Vincent's participation in EUCLID. This program is an illustration of Minister Miguel's commitment to Sustainable Development in Education.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadine is an independent Caribbean state, member of the Commonwealth and of the Organization of the American States.


Euclid School of Theology supports LXX scholarship (02/2008)

Euclid PFSTM faculty members are continuing to support the scholarly effort to complete and publish the EOB or Eastern / Greek Orthodox Bible based on the Septuagint.

The school is now an institutional member of the International Organization for Septuagint and Cognate Studies and hopes to present the completed volumes at the Septuagint Institute Conference of September 2008.

IOSD and Eritrea sign educational and developmental partnership MOU

The Secretariat-General announced today that Secretary-General Syed Zahid Ali of IOSD and H.E. Osman Mohammed Saleh, Minister of Education (outgoing, incoming Minister of Foreign Affairs) have approved the standard multilateral Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to Eritrea's participation in the IOSD partnership.

Several employees of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are already taking advantages of special educational programs.

IOSD also expresses gratitude to the Teaching Company for the generous supply of educational courses sent for use in Eritrea.


OIC Intergovernmental Journal features IOSD/Euclid (05/01/2007)

The April-June 2007 edition of the Journal of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, a major 57 member-state intergovernmental organization, featured a photograph of the ICCI/IOSD Euclid agreement signature along with details on the scholarship provisions.

Euclid Faculty Appointment (03/01/2007)

Ediho Lokanga is appointed adjunct professor of science and computing in the Blaise Pascal School of Science and Computing. Pr. Lokanga received his Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Open University and a Master of Science in Computing from the University of Central England in Birmingham. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Physics and a doctoral researcher in theoretical physics. He and his family reside in the United Kingdom.


Euclid Executive President attends intergovernmental conference; signs landmark agreement with ICCI

IOSD Secretary-General / Euclid Executive President Syed Zahid Ali attended ICCI's intergovernmental conference “Partners in Social and Economic Development” in Malaysia, from Dec. 8-10, 2006. On this occasion, the Secretary-General signed a landmark cooperative agreement with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, an affiliated institution of the OIC, a 57-member state intergovernmental organization. The agreement provides for 20 Euclid/ICCI scholarships and ensure the recognition of Euclid's academic programs in OIC/ICCI member states.

UGB announces participation in Euclid Consortium (08/01/06)

 

UGB (Senegal) has officially joined the Euclid Consortium as of June 23, 2006. Implemention details will be discussed over the coming months to allow for the active participation of this leading governmental institution in the Euclid University Consortium initiative.

NU/UNDT finalizes Euclid participation (05/31/06)

IOSD / Euclid announced today that the University of N'Djamena (NU/UNDT) has completed the finalization of its full participation in the Euclid University Consortium initiative.

The agreement was reviewed and approved by the Ministry of Education of Tchad with full accreditation for Euclid University extension.

NU/UNDT is also a full member of the International Association of Universities.

This strategic partnership will result in the development of an innovative Master's Degree in Sustainable Development to be unveiled in September 2006.
